Now THIS I REALLY like, although I still say use a seriffed "I" on "IDEAS", and move the "D" closer to the "E" and the "A" and "E" further appart just slightly.

Yes, this is what I meant when I said I get pedantic about kerning in logos.

Plus, I'm clutching at straws for suggestions on how to make this better.

I'm personally not keen on Serif'd "I"s... >.< Probably cause I never write them anyway (a single line suits me in both capital and lower case handwriting) but I can easily sort out the spacing. I overlooked the "IDEAS" half of the logo to be honest.

I just don't like the fact that when you write "Ill" at the beginning of a sentence or as a part of a title in a font with sans-serif "I"s it looks like three in Roman numerals ("lll")
I specifically chose Verdana for the body font in my Machinma magazine because there's a character in a machinima called "Trash Talk" called "Ill Will".
There was also a character in ReBoot called "AndrAIa" with the capital "AI" to signify that she was an artifical intelligence, and when I did a wallpaper of her people thought she was called "Andrala" (with an "L").
Thus I like seriffed "I"s because it's clear that they're an "I" and not a lowercase "L".

But it's your design so you go with whatever suits you. It's pretty clear that it's an "I" because there's no such word as "LDEAS" so in this case it's not something that matters a great deal.

Anyway, I do like the closer cutout lines around the XS though, much better than the previous logo.

Never really phased me. I've always been taught Sans-Serif for logos, Serif for lots of text; unless it's only to be displayed on a computer screen, then use Sans-Serif (as it's easier to read on screen than Serif)

Alright... lemme see.

I just think the logo looks lopsided. That my only real critique. I can't think of an immediate way to solve it, but the XS is just busier than the IDEAS half.

Although, an odd idea JUST struck me (I blame my first year lecturer and her classes on logo design) Have you tried substituting the A in IDEAS with a pair of scissors? I think it could look lame, but worth a shot.

Play around a bit. That's what we had to do in class. No matter how silly it looked (or you thought it might look), just try... you never know, it could inspire something better for the final!
